There are many questions to be answered when considering a wind energy project for your home, farm, school or whatever use you may have in mind. The following worksheet is designed to give you some guidance in the early phases of the process. Take this as far as you feel comfortable on your own and keep in mind that the BTI Network of trained specialists is on hand to assist you to the fullest degree.

1. Assess your electricity consumption, cost, and your utility tariff:
Begin by collecting your last 12 months of electric bills, or contact your utility company for a complete breakdown of your previous year’s usage. Determine from your billing information the total number of kilowatt hours (kwh) that you used during this time frame

2. Select turbine size (model) and tower height:
See Endurance Products on BTI Wind Energy Website:
Select the Endurance turbine that best fits your power consumption in kwh’s from the annual energy production estimates chart.

3. Investigate Incentives & Economics:
For a full list of federal and state incentives go to http://www.dsireusa.org
Also, check with your State Energy Office through the Department of Energy at http://www.energy.gov

4. Get zoning approval:
Contact your local zoning office to learn about their regulations.
Fill out all necessary paperwork, and apply for a zoning variance if necessary.

5. Complete a utility interconnection agreement:
Contact your utility company for a copy of their interconnection document.
(This can usually be done be email, fax or download.)
Fill out the interconnection agreement in its entirety and return to your utility company.

6. Obtain building & electrical permits:
In some cases building and electrical permits are required; work closely with your local permitting agency to accomplish this quickly. In other cases, it is not required, but do not assume that this is the case. Go through the proper channels to complete your project.

7. Order turbine and tower:
Contact your BTI Wind Energy Certified Salesperson to generate a quote, show you finance options, write the agreement and arrange a timetable for delivery and installation.
At this time BTI Wind Energy will collect the deposit or payment in full.

8. Install the turbine:
BTI Wind Energy will help you arrange for installation through our network of Endurance Certified Installation companies. A BTI Wind Energy Representative will be on hand at the conclusion of the installation to help you complete the warranty registration!

9. Commission the turbine:
Once the turbine is properly installed and connected to the meter the turbine is commissioned and your power future is operational.

10. Perform periodic inspections & maintenance:
The BTI Wind Energy Factory trained technicians will perform regularly scheduled maintenance and inspections according to the 5 year service maintenance agreement.
